Finished gentoo install as per guide guide. Stuff related to xen was set up according to http://gentoo-wiki.com/HOWTO_Xen_and_Gentoo
I rebooted and grub failed to load. Not even an error message. Just a blinking cursor that doesn't accept any imput. Booted from 2007 install cd. Mounted root, proc, dev and boot. Put the rootfs into the mtab as the guide says. Ran grub install. Reported success. Exit, unmount, reboot, and back to the blinking cursor and no grub. Not even an error message. It's like grub doesn't exist. I checked that the partition was set to bootable and fdisk too. |

I tried messing around with the drives, removing everything ATA apart from that drive. Made no difference. Also set drive parameters manually to no avail. It's probably a hardware problem. Which is odd because it mounts and can be used fine. |

Hmmm ... are you sure you installed GRUB into the MBR and not on a partition? |
