Knoppix does it, and I even coaxed regular vanilla debian into installing over the wireless card, but not gentoo. For my orinoco based card, I need pcmcia_core, i82365, ds, orinoco, orinoco_cs, and hermes modules loaded. The gentoo 1.4_rc4 LiveCD loads the first three, not the last three, and also loads ide-cs, p80211, and prism2_cs. So I rmmod those and modprobe the missing ones. But it still doesn't work. I have browsed the forums, and heard of an experimental LiveCD with linux-wvlan-ng support built into the kernel, so I headed over to ibiblio and pulled down the latest experimental iso from 5/16. This LiveCD doesn't even boot correctly for me, so I think they are talking about a different LiveCD. Can I get a link to where this mystery iso lies?
The regular modules should still work. Why not? _________________ If tugboats were bigger, they'd be the ones getting tugged. |

Try searching for (and filing if necessary) a bug at bugs.gentoo.org on that. However, there's no reason not to simply install from the Knoppix anyhow. I've done it, it's great, it's easy, it works. |
