I'd like to try out memcached to see if it can speed up my web application.

I've emerged it, and I'm trying to start it with the default options (except I've changed the listen address).

When I do, my system log says:
Code:
Oct  9 12:43:13 [kernel] memcached[26586]: segfault at 00000000000144b9 rip 00002b02d7780189 rsp 00007fffd354ae28 error 4

Any ideas?

I had the same problem. Tried upgrading gcc from 4.1.1 to 4.1.2. Didn't help. Tried downgrading memcached from 1.2.2 to 1.2.1. That did seem to help. Memcached 1.2.1 seems to run fine.
