I have another probably silly question which probably only needs a quick reply.
I have a FAT32 partition on my external hard drive as well as an equal sized ext2 partition. The FAT partition I'm using to backup my media (video, music, pictures... everything.) which is all organized on one of the partitions in my primary hard drive. The idea is to back up the stuff AND to have a way to access it when I boot to vista. I was thinking about backing up important system files on the ext2 partition (or maybe an image of my entire hard drive (the non media parts) so that I can get it back if anything happened to my laptop.)
My question is if anyone has a really good script to keep these backups synchronized with my actual hard drive. ie if I change the name or id3 tag of an mp3, i want the backup of that mp3 to get replaced with the new one or of something gets deleted I want the backup to reflect that so I don't just have a bunch of duplicates and old unnecessary files over there.
I'm probably only going to plug this hard drive in to do quick backups and when I want to listen to music in Windows. |

Oh, cool. I always thought rsync was just for syncing files between multiple machines... I probably should have just read the man page.
