|
|
My company has a Gentoo based process monitoring system ... built by a company that went belly-up shortly after handing it over.
Now I am getting a boot failure error - Insert start-up CD ... and of course, there is no start up CD. The box appears to be generic - no logos that would give me a clue as to what architecture it uses.
Is there a generic startup CD I can download - if that works, what commands should I try to run?
Thanks

Without knowing the details of the product you have, it is difficult to determine what needs to be done.
Assuming that the box is an x86, you should be able to boot off the minimal cd. If that works, then mount the disks/chroot etc. to do whatever you want. _________________ www.gentoo.org.au || #gentoo-au |

hiya were abouts are you based?
as a gentoo user local to you might be willing to pop over and sort
many gentoo users like my self do things for free just to have a play
even if they jsut get it booted it is better then nothing
and try your local lug linux user group (google for them) |
