I had the same problem, even though the modules were not loaded. Never did figure it out _________________ Casey Bralla

I recently tried using "VirtualBox" and feel it is just as good as vmWare for normal desktop emulation. There are 2 versions of VirtualBox in the Gentoo portage system. One is the Open Source version, which does not include USB support. The other is a binary version which does include USB. The opensource version is published under the GPL. The enhanced binary version is free for personal use.
Based on having this available, I don't see any reason to bother with vmWare anymore.
You may want to give it a try too. _________________ Casey Bralla

I experienced exactly the same problem. Does someone know how to solve this? |

vmnet.ko and vmmon.ko are normally found in /lib/modules/yourkernelversion/misc
Remove them and rerun the vmware-install. |

Thank you. All works nice.
And one note: I download last VMware and exec emerge --sync... After this put VMware distrib to /usr/portage/distfiles and it installed by emerge vmware-workstation. _________________ http://www.gamelegion.ru/ |
