Hi,
I just installed gentoo from the mini cd.
I compiled my kernel, everything works.. except eth0
Here's my error:
Network interface eth0 does not exist
please verify hardware or kernel module (driver)
ERROR: problem starting needed service net.eth0
netmount was not started
My network card is a simple extern card (Realtek)
Hope you can help me asap!
Regards,
Mitch |

recompile the kernel and add your network card as either built-in or module form. _________________

As in PCI, USB or PCMCIA? Make sure you have pci and usb support in your kernel otherwise it wont be seen. _________________ HP NC 4010, Pentium-M 725 1.6GHz w/ 1Gb RAM, 60Gb Hitachi Travelstar.
Running Gentoo-2.6.21-r4 (again as 2.6.22 kernels hogs CPU), all but SD reader works fine. |

boot the system with the livecd, then do "lspci" and "lsmod" and those will be most of the things you need to build into your kernel. _________________ Linux Registered User #458185
