Hi,

I just installed gentoo from the mini cd.
I compiled my kernel, everything works.. except eth0

Here's my error:

Network interface eth0 does not exist
please verify hardware or kernel module (driver)
ERROR: problem starting needed service net.eth0
netmount was not started

My network card is a simple extern card (Realtek)

Hope you can help me asap!

Regards,
Mitch

recompile the kernel and add your network card as either built-in or module form.

As in PCI, USB or PCMCIA? Make sure you have pci and usb support in your kernel otherwise it wont be seen.

Running Gentoo-2.6.21-r4 (again as 2.6.22 kernels hogs CPU), all but SD reader works fine.

boot the system with the livecd, then do "lspci" and "lsmod" and those will be most of the things you need to build into your kernel.
