which liveCD

hi,
Im new to gentoo, and wanted to give it a shot. My first problem ist to find the appropriate iso image.
I went to a mirror (http://www.fhh.opensource-mirror.de/gentoo.org/)
then in releases.
Which one should I take /1.4_rc4/ or /ppc/ ?
Why is rc7 and rc8 not besides rc4?

the install manual for rc7, but there is no structure like:
allstages/ developer/ nostages/

so should I get the iso from rc4 or from rc7?
