Whats the deal with it?
The binary from thier site doesn't register as a valid binary, when i attempt to run it, it claims the binary does not exist, however if you use file on the binayr it is indeed a valid executable?
I also cannot find the linux source on thier site anymore.
This problem persists for squake, glquake, quake.x11 quake.SDL etc... and quakeworld.
here's the error i get while trying to run, followed by the permissions, followed by the output of file, the error is the same for all executables from the site

bash: ./glquake: No such file or directory
mike@fluid-steel:~/Desktop$ ls -l ./glquake
-rwxr-xr-x 1 mike mike 405412 1997-11-13 18:34 ./glquake
mike@fluid-steel:~/Desktop$ file ./glquake
./glquake: ELF 32-bit LSB executable, Intel 80386, version 1 (SYSV), dynamically linked (uses shared libs), stripped

Problem is that old binaries are no longer compatible with new Glibc versions... new Glibc versions should be 100% compatible with old Glibc but in reality some point some changes made it not so compatible. Solution is to load game with old enough Glibc version. |
