My gentoo box has about 70 gigs of free space. 70 is good, but 150 is better. So.
It's main use is as a samba share, at /var/smb/default
I have a spare 80 GB usb drive kicking around, so.
What I would like, is to somehow "join" that drive to that folder, kind of like JBOD or raid0, but not, so that space from both the local filesystem and can be used for the samba share, in effect spanning the folder across multiple volumes.
I don't particularly want to have to repartition the system; if that is the only solution, then i'll just live with mounting the usb drive at /var/smb/default.
So, any ideas?
Edit: one idea I had would be to create "virtual" filesystems on each device, loop mount them and raid/jbod them. This has the side effect of me having to preallocate space on the local device. Can anyone figure something based on this? |
