Hi,
I found an interesting (now it became annoying) behavior when I start my gentoo. The time which is shown by it has 2 hours offset to the actual time. Say when it is 8 o'clock it says it is 10. I checked the bios settings and the time is just fine there. I looked through the dmesg and /var/log/messages and there is nothing, at least I have not found anything which might be the entry point for me problem.
/etc/localtime links to the proper timezone and the /etc/conf.d/clock is set according to the handbook. CLOCK="UTC" and TIMEZONE="Europe/Budapest"
Can you help me with some hints to track down this problem? I you need some more input please let me know, because I don't want to bother you with a lot of unnecessary log entries.
Best regards,
Zsolt

Is you local setup correctly? Type in the console "locale" and see. Also /etc/adjitme is the offset for clock skew. Rarely it can become corrupted. Try removing it.
It might be a good thought, to stop the client used for ntp until the issue is resolved. |

Thanks for the hint. I checked the file you mentioned and it contained only zeroes. Hence I googled it down and checked the /etc/init.d/clock and saw that the hwclock command is used in it and has connection to the adjust file. Everything seemed fine but the 2 hours were still there. Than I executed the command, and saw that the system clock is not fine. Interesting. The bios tells different things.
But the problem is solved - after setting the hardware clock with hwclock - in my point of view, thanks again.
Regards,
