I am swithching broadband providers. I am going from a cable modem connected to linksys router to a dsl router supplied by the local telco. The new equipment does PPPoE. It has to be configured, which I managed to do first thing out of the box. Connection was seamless, although full speed wasn´t reached until seconds before I got their customer service rep on the phone, odd. I am now within expected range, browsing is swift and azureus is going fine to 100% of the network. Nevertheless, even with Azureus off, I can´t reach the router through 10.1.1.1 or any other ¨traditional¨ router IP. I didn´t change at thing in my networks configs for the system since I figured (and it worked) that both routers Linksys wifi before and D-Link DSL now are DHCP enabled.
I think I am missing something obvious...

I'm a little confused. The title of the post is very different from the question asked in the message.
As for the message, if you are on a Linksys router as you say. Just do a ifconfig, look at the gateway, and the gateway ip is your router ip. Simple as that. As for accessing it, most Linksys routers have a web interface, trying using a browser at the ip of the router and see what happens.

I can ping the router and ifconfig is fine
Code: |
# ifconfig eth1
eth1 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:17:31:F3:6A:FB
inet addr:10.1.1.2 Bcast:10.255.255.255 Mask:255.0.0.0

What I can´ t do is reach the web interface. I did once and configured the PPPoE on it with user, password and ohter needed parametres (VPI and VCI for the WAN connection), nothing else. Later, I even managed to reach it via Opera and after a long waiting for each page manage to open the ports for Azureus.
Now, Firefox and Opera send my a problem loading page message: connection reset. |
