I installed KDE 3.5.7 overnight but appearance and theme settings are missing from KDE Control Center. There are no error messages when I start it from the Konsole either 
Any ideas?
This was a fresh install, I purposefully deleted all kde packages from /var/lib/portage/world and depclean'd before emerging kdebase-meta. I am on ~amd64.

In order to fix this I had to do:
| Code: | mkdir ~/BACKUP
mv ~/\.* BACKUP/ |
...I don't know why purging ~/.kde (~/.kde3.5) didn't fix this but I couldn't find any alternative.
