Hi, I'm planning to install Gentoo, and reading up first.
The install docs say that fdisk is available for partitioning,
however my memory of Linux fdisk from older distributions
is that it isn't so good -- cfdisk, I recall, was much nicer.
Is there any choice when installing Gentoo?

Regards,

During the install, fdisk is pretty much it.

fdisk is the only tool available on the install cd. you can add cfdisk on your own or use an alternate install CD (mandrake, etc.) to partition prior to installing gentoo.

There has been ample discussion on this in the archives, so you can check there for more information. (just search for "fdisk AND cfdisk" and I'm sure you'll come up with plenty of hits)

To everyone else, please refrain from turning this into (yet another) cfdisk vs. fdisk thread. Don't make me get out the trout. :)
