|
|
I updated my "world" yesterday and can't use my wireless connection since then. I'm working with a 2.6.20-gentoo-r8 kernel on a DELL D820
It seems to be a hardware issue:
Code: | proton linux # /etc/init.d/net.eth1 start
* Starting eth1
* Bringing up eth1
* dhcp
* network interface eth1 does not exist
* Please verify hardware or kernel module (driver) [ !! ]

Since I'm far from being an expert, I can't figure out what's this issue. Here are some information:
Code: | proton linux # modprobe -l | grep wireless

Did you update and boot to a new kernel when you updated world? If so you will need to rebuild the wireless driver for the new kernel.
should do it. |

Just re-emerged as suggested but still the same symptoms.
Any other suggestion or command to execute in order to help the diagnostic? |

Try this
Code: | /etc/init.d/net.eth0 stop
/etc/init.d/ipw3945d start
sleep 4s && /etc/init.d/net.eth1 start

In accordance to your suggestion I ran:
Code: |
rc-update add ipw3945d boot
|
and I works fine. I guess my updating of "world" removed it.
Thank you so much for your help Stolz & rrbrussell! |
