hello friends
I have another problem. My server restarted today for any particular reason. I've tried to find something relevant in /var/log/messages but there was nothing.
After a vixie-cron job, the log shows how syslog-ng is starting up....
The server was up until then for probably one month or maybe more... is there something in gentoo that makes the station to automatically restart after a period of time and I don't know about it?

I know that the question and the post is stupid... but please.. I want an answer to stay calm that no one didn't accessed the station.... there are a lot of tries... on ftp and on ssh.....

Are you sure you didn't have a power outage or you had a power blink?

I have 6 computers... none of them didn't restarted. More than that the server is on an UPS so it doesn't matter if there was a power outage.

usually a restart is done by using the restart routines through reboot/init, and it's fairly tough to get into kernel mode (CPL0) and restart the machine that way. But with no logs (and if they broke into CPL0 that's not hard to do), it's kind of hard to tell. I still would suspect a bad power connector, weak PSU, user error, etc. first, though. Might be worth to go through usual intrusion detection schemes if you want (equery?)

Which are those routines? No users were connected at that time.
