Dear all,

after a short detour to Sun OpenSolaris on my notebook, I cannot get my sound card working (I have done it before, so it must to be possible).

I fear it might be necessary to post seventy-two pages of debug output, but I'd rather not bother, so hopefully these are not required.
I use genkernel 2.6.22 with ALSA compiled in.
I followed the Gentoo ALSAGuide, however, I do not get either a Master or a PCM in alsamixer, which puzzles me, as i never have experienced something alike before.

Does anybody have an idea and could give a quick hint?

Thanks alot

there are a few options you can pass to the snd_hda_intel module.
try
Code:
rmmod snd_hda_intel
modprobe snd_hda_intel model=3stack

read /usr/src/linux/Documentation/sound/alsa/ALSA-Configuration.txt under Module snd-hda-intel for additional options.

I have a fujitsu-siemens si1520 and my /etc/modules.d/snd_hda_intel has this line:
Code:
options snd-hda-intel model=3stack single_cmd=1 enable_msi=1

Hello again,

I think we can safely agree on the fact, that I am an idiot - it certainly would have helped to compile alsa-support into the system, which I did not

cheers, have a nice day
