sonypi runaway process

Hi! I've been attempting to get the function keys to work on my Sony VAIO SZ laptop for the past few weeks, and I keep running into a problem with the SonyPI kernel module where as soon as I press one of the function keys it begins to write out "sony/hotkey SPIC 00000001 0000003b" over and over and over. It causes my processer to go to 70-80% usage and the only way that I have found to kill it is to restart the computer. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Other than the obvious 'don't use that kernel module', no.

Yeah, that's kind of the conclusion I'm coming to. Its just that I know that there are people for which it works, and the keys worked just fine under Windows...so I don't think that it is a hardware issue.
