|
|
Hi there
I've been trying to get my other machine (P120 48MB ) run gentoo but kernel compiling introduces some problems. As everyone else I also forgot to select DEVFS support in the first try so I just went on and tried to recompile. This time I however got following kind of errors
base.c: 2254 : redefinition of 'devfs_register_blkdev'
/usr/src/linux-2.4.19-gentoo-r7/include/linux/devfs_fs_kernel.h : 251
'devfs_register_blkdev' previously defined here
I got similar messages at least from devfs_unregister_chrdev, devfs_unregister_blkdev, devfs_register_chrdev and mount_devfs_fs.
My initial kernel was the xfs-kernel but when that didn't work I tried gentoo-kernel. That didn't work either so I unmerged both and tried gentoo-kernel again. This morning I rebooted with install cd, mounted my drives, changed to chrooted environment and started compile. Hopefully it works better this time |

This time it actually worked. Now only if I just weren't writing this in lynx I would insert one of those faces here .
Anyone care to give a good (but simple) explanation why I got those error messages.
And now maybe some more programs... |
