hey. im having problems installing matlab. I just did a minimal gentoo install, and i'm pretty sure im missing some kind of library that makes this work.... Any suggestions?
this was what i ran (without quotations) "sh install -glnx86"
Code: | -------------------------------------------------------------------
An error status was returned by the program 'xsetup',
the X Window System version of 'install'. The following
messages were written to standard error:
/mnt/cdrom/unix/update/install/main.sh: line 86: /mnt/cdrom/unix/update/bin/glnx86/xsetup: Permission denied
Attempt to fix the problem and try again. If X is not available
or 'xsetup' cannot be made to work then try the terminal
version of 'install' using the command:
install* -t or INSTALL* -t
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Sorry! Setup aborted . . . |
i checked this thread before, and none of these pointers worked. i did try to install as 32 bit, but that didn't work either. as i said, i think im missing something. When i try to install in terminal mode i get som syntax error.
this was what i put in console (without quotations) "sh install -glnx86 -t"
Code: | awk: cmd. line:2: BEGIN { found = 0; extra = 9; min = 24; default = 24 }
awk: cmd. line:2: ^ syntax error
awk: cmd. line:6: if (nrows < min) nrows = default
awk: cmd. line:6: ^ syntax error
awk: cmd. line:12: END { if (found == 0) print (default - extra) }
awk: cmd. line:12: ^ syntax error
awk: cmd. line:12: END { if (found == 0) print (default - extra) }
awk: cmd. line:12: ^ syntax error
awk: cmd. line:2: (FILENAME=- FNR=1) fatal: division by zero attempted in `%'
/mnt/cdrom/unix/update/install/license.sh: line 132: [: 1: unary operator expected
/mnt/cdrom/unix/update/install/main.sh: line 80: /mnt/cdrom/unix/update/bin/glnx86/xsetup: Permission denied

Do you have X or you are on console only. AFAIK the installer does work fine inside a desktop environment. _________________ Helium Sources || Gentoo Minimal Livecd |

yes, i thought that as well. hmmmmm
maybe it might be something else.
there is a permission error.... might it be something with fstab? It is a recently installed minimal gentoo. i may have overlooked something. I tried playing around with the fstab before, but i didn't get any different results. |
