no startx script in /usr/X11R6/bin..HELP!!!

Hi,
I've just encountered a very frustrating and yet somehow interesting phenomenon..
out of curiosity I decided to emerge the netscape navigator ebuild...it installed without any problems..
well, the fun started when i tried to fire up X..I typee startx as usual..but nothing happened!
Mind you, it was working fine just about half an hour ago..so, i suspect that somehow the netscape-navigator euild destroyed my existing XFree4.3 installation...I tried re-emereging XFree4.3, all went fine, but after the installation i couldn't either issue startx, nor XFree86 -configure..nothing, even tough /usr/X11R6/bin is in my path..
I am completely lost right now, if somebody has got an idea, feel free to comment

BTW, i'm writing this using lynx, just in case the text format is a bit weird!
