I was given a digital still camera, a Sony DSC-W55, but can't import photos from it.

Could anyone please tell me what's wrong here?

var/log/messages:

usb 1-6: new high speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address 9
usb 1-6: unable to read config index 0 descriptor/start
usb 1-6: chopping to 0 config(s)
usb 1-6: no configuration chosen from 0 choices

The issues happens whatever I'm using the camera in the PTP or in the Mass Storage mode.

I have gentoo-sources 2.6.23-gentoo and udev 116. If that matters, I'm trying to use it with libgphoto2 2.4.0-r1 and f-spot 0.4.0.

Hm... This error occurs in the USB 2.0 but not in the USB 1.1 ports. I believe now it's a hardware problem. Does anyone else agree?
