Hi,
since I have issues with automounting/unmounting (using ivman) I was wondering if there is a replacement for fstab-sync which was taken out of hal a while ago according to this thread.
My problem is that I can't unmount any automatically mounted devices (ivman/pmount) because they are not mounted by my user. If the devices are mounted using udev rules they can be accessed as user but not unmounted because they are not in /etc/fstab. I have to unmount them per hand so that there are no errors on disconnecting/reconnecting my (sd-)card-readers and the likes.
Since I don't want to make fstab entries for all removable devices that will ever be connected to my notebook I would like a tool that creates the fstab entries automatically on mount. I could start the tool per script too, it wouldn't have to be able to react on events - though I would prefer if it did so automatically
If anyone knows a tool that could solve my problem I'd be mighty grateful. |

I found the following link:
a Wiki entry about a script called updfstab
I don't know if this is usable (especially on gentoo), but I'd like to hear your opinions about this. |
