Day One of a Full Install of Gentoo Linux (well, day 3, but 2 days were spent with the awsome power of emerge) now that KDE is on, i have a few stupid questions:
1. Where do the skins for xmms have to go in order to be recognized
2. Is it possiable to make: Gaim, Yahoo Messenger, or xmms to appear only in the "task bar" looking thing?
thanks
Im sorta still in the windows 'frame' (god damn im funny) of mind. |

Do you mean what windows would call the system tray over by the clock on the taskbar? kopete can dissapear to there, and it's a good client as well. XMMS doesn't to the best of my knowledge. There might be a plugin or something out there though. Google is your friend, or more likely the XMMS site plugin section.

Gaim has a plugin for that. Look for "system tray plugin" under the plugins section in the preferences window. Gaim can also handle the Yahoo messenger protocol, so you don't need a seperate Y! messenger app. |

emerge xmms-themes
and if you want to find out where the skins are than you can do:
qpkg -l xmms-themes |

The taskbar in KDE is called Kicker. The part of Kicker that you're interested in is called the System Tray Applet.
- Right click on Kicker
- Choose Help
- Click on KDE Panel Handbook
Hope this helps! _________________ nadams (at) ieee (dot) org |
