Well, I don't exactly remember what cpu I have build in, is it an Athlon or Athlon Thunderbird?

Unless I'm remembering incorrectly, the original Athlons used the Slot A form factor and the Thunderbirds used Socket A. So, you can tell which type of Athlon you have by opening up your box and taking a look at your cpu.
If it's a big rectangle cartridge dealie (same look as the Pentium II/III/IVs) then it's an original Athlon. If it's a small square chip (akin to the orignal Pentiums), then it's a Thunderbird. |

I think slot athlon only reach up to 800Mhz your's is 1ghz so it should be a Thunderbird |

your cpu has 256kb of L2 cache, only the original athlon used 512kb (on the high latncy cartrige) so you must have a athlon thunderbird. |

i used to have one of the very few produced thunderbird slot a's... they only made a "few" of them in 800... they even made a 1ghz slot a but those were very rare. i tried to get ahold of one for a while but they're so rare they go for 300 bucks on ebay. might as well just buy a new motherboard and processor for half that or less |
