mpg321 has the same syntax and features, but is GPL. mpg123 has a less free license (commercial use is restricted IIRC). |

sox will convert damn near anything to anything.... I wonder why it doesn't touch MP3? |

I use xmms to turn mp3s into wav files and then burn the wav files as tracks on CD. It works great, and a standard CD only takes about 1 minute to convert from mp3 to wav.
