Hello,
Those who know HP UX in some way may have met a piece of hardware called GSP.
It is a kind of serial console, which allows to control the system completely, as if you were physically at the system.
You can see(and modify) whole boot process, issue poweroff/on commands and login to tty. The console is accessed via network, has its own ip and uses telnet.
Does something similar exist for PC? |

You're probably looking for ipmi cards, those are pretty close. Dell sells DRAC cards, those are similar.

For HP Proliant hardware the analog is iLo: "Integrated Lights Out." |
