I'm upgrading an unmaintained gentoo box. Original install was 2006. Probably would have been easier to reinstall from scratch, but oh well. So no suggestions regarding that please.
Anyway, I'm looking thru the emerge world output and KDE wants to be installed slotted [NS], even with "emerge world -epv". What's the reasoning behind that?
I'd rather just upgrade and have the old KDE removed. Is this possible?

Let it install in the new slot, and then run emerge --ask --depclean afterwards. Depclean has recently been updated to clean out unneeded slots. _________________ Saving the world, one kilobyte at a time. |

That's what I figured, just thought I'd check first. Just seems wierd though. Why would you need sloted KDE? Gnome upgrades with no slots.
Thanks. |
