When i first boot from the cd, it both finds my NIC and gives me axcess to the net-setup script.

When i install Gentoo and then reboot, it doesn't find my NIC and doesn't give me axcess to net-install (but i don't think that would mather).

I have compiled the kernel with support for my NIC.

Did you include the NIC module in /etc/modules.autoload?
Also try booting with pci=noacpi, I need that to get my NIC working on my NF7-S mobo.

Did you set up your net interface with dhcp or whatever as specified in the install guide?

I have done all that except 'pci=noapci'.
I will try that but i am not sure how to pass arguments to the kernel.

This is really anoying since the bootCD finds it just fine.

Maybe i should add that it is an onboard NIC.
This is what SiSoft Sandra tells me about it:

<< Abit Computer Corp nForce MCP-T Networking Adapter >>
< Device Information >
Device Type: Ethernet Network
Device ID: bus 0, device 4, function 0
Windows Device Name: NVIDIA nForce MCP Networking Adapter

OEM Device Name:
Nvidia Corp nForce MCP-T Networking Adapter

OEM Hardware ID: FUN_0, VEN_10DE, DEV_0066, REV_A1

Device Name:
Abit Computer Corp nForce MCP-T Networking Adapter

Product ID: VEN_147B, DEV_1C02
Revision: K / 2 (161)

Sorry about this posts bad structure, but i was limited by the widht.
Does anyone know how i can get this network card to work in Gentoo?
The LiveCD finds the network card just fine.

I'm using a shuttle Sn41g2 machine right now, and I have the same problem.

The LiveCD autodetects the nforce onboard NIC fine. However, once I boot into my installation I am unable to initialize the NIC

I have solved the problem. Just do an 'emerge nforce-net' and then put nvnet in modules.autoload.
