Hi every1

I sometimes receive the following error message from mpd-0.13.0 (or ncmpc-0.11.1-r2?):
Quote:

Error: Unable to convert characters to ANSI_X3.4-1968

However I can play almost all MP3 albums. I mean almost because some folders just dont get listed within ncmpc, for example:
Quote:

I had this exact problem yesterday.
I read HOWTO Make your system use unicode/utf-8
Just edit your .zshrc and add
Code:
export LANG="en_EN.UTF-8"
If you use bash then put it in your .bashrc.
Or just do it in one command:
Code:
For Zsh:
echo "export LANG="en_EN.UTF-8" >> ~/.zshrc
For Bash:
echo "export LANG="en_EN.UTF-8" >> ~/.bashrc

I just installed Gentoo last week after using Arch Linux for two years, so I'm sure this isn't the most elegant solution, if you find a better one, post it.

I had this problem as well. But I fixed it in /etc/mpd.conf like this,
Code:
#filesystem_charset "UTF-8"
filesystem_charset "ISO-8859-1"

As far as I know, that makes your MPD database not in unicode, so I think this is not the answer, as it disables the feature we want.

thanks for the replies. I have "solved" the missing mp3 folder problem, a simple chmod on the corresponding folder did the trick
ISO-8859-15 is my systems default NLS so I switched to "filesystem_charset "UTF-8"" to "filesystem_charset "ISO-8859-15"" but it didn't resolve the "Error: Unable to convert characters to ANSI_X3.4-1968" - error message....
