Does anyone know how to do this? I heard that you can fix the problem by using either 'diff' or 'etc-update' using the later however, simply tells me that it's checking dep and that everything is okay. Do I have to do somethign special?

I read that and now have 'shut off' the file protection but I was wondering if there is a manual way of replacing the files or updating the files that are being written ad cfg???? |

...what? post the output of the end of the emerge and the output of your etc-update command. _________________ Someone told me that "..they only ever made one mistake...."

Try running (as root):
find / -name "._*"
That should return a list of all the files on the system that need updating. Early on I had a problem where etc-update wasn't always catching the files needing updating. |
