Just wondering if the commercial version of winex and the cvs/portage versions conflicted in any way. I already have the commercial version installed, but just want to check out a more recent version to see what other games I can get working with it. |

By default the commercial winex installs to /usr/lib/transgaming/winex/, and sets up a link for the winex shell script to /usr/bin/winex
Portage's winex installs winex to /usr/winex/, so once you install the package you can setup a link from /usr/winex/bin/winex to, say, /usr/bin/winex_gentoo or whatever floats your boat.
So, in short, you can have them co-exist perfectly well.
Oh one more thing, Portage's winex uses ~/.winex/ as it's config directory where Transgaming's commercial version uses ~/.transgaming/. (and to make it even more confusing, the straight CVS source from Transgaming uses ~/.wine/). Although I suppose you can customize all that anyway. |
