Hi, I have a mobility 9000 in my laptop and am new to gentoo. I decided to try out the firegl drivers (rather than just using the drivers built into xfree w/ xfree-drm). So I set it up, and noticed that it only gave me an option to use 24 bit color depth. Well, I started x, ran glxgears, and got about 1640 fps. With the xfree w/xfree-drm I was getting about 2100 fps, so this is a big drop. Now, with the later I had it set to 16 bit color, so I can see how that could make a difference. So, I tried to the set the firegl drivers to 16 bit (I changed the default to 16 made, and the display depth to 16. Then, when I went to start x, it gave me an error saying that firegl does not support 16 bit depth. Is there any way to get it to work, or tweak the firegl drivers to get them up to the level of the xfree drivers? (BTW, all of this is being done at 1600x1200). |
