ati-drivers-8.552-r2 graphics corruption when closing laptop

I've just updated to the latest fglrx drivers (ati-drivers-8.552-r2) and everything seems to be working properly, however if I close my laptop lid and then reopen it, all the graphics are corrupted. When this happens I'm unable to kill using Ctrl-Alt-Backspace or switch to a different terminal with Ctrl-Alt-F1.

Anyone tried these drivers and had any luck?

EDIT: Solved, I didn't have a complete install of xorg 7.4, half of my libraries and progs were still from 7.2. Keyworded and upgraded to xorg-x11-7.4 and its all working now
