Hello,

when i launch some powerpoint presentations with ooo it complains with 'unable to find the java environment' (or something like that).
when i go to the options and i try to set a path to a java environment...i don't know what path indicate in.

i've followed the java doc on gentoo.org so i think java is correct on my system.
also, i can check the java environment without problem:
Code:

#> java-check-environment
 * === Java Environment Checker ===
 * The purpose of this script is to check the sanity of your Java Environment.
 * We have significantly changed and improved the way Java is handled in many
 * respects.
 * Please refer to our upgrade guide for details:
 *      http://www.gentoo.org/proj/en/java/java-upgrade.xml

 * Checking fastjar ...                                                                                                                                                     [ ok ]

 * Checking vm_environment_files ...                                                                                                                                        [ ok ]

 * Checking user_settings ...
 * Running as root. Don't need to check user settings.                                                                                                                      [ ok ]

 * Checking generation_1_system_vm ...                                                                                                                                      [ ok ]

 * Checking virtual_provides ...                                                                                                                                            [ ok ]

 * Checking overlays_eclasses ...                                                                                                                                           [ ok ]

 * Checking package_env ...                                                                                                                                                 [ ok ]

 * Java environment is sane. Congratulations!

#> java-config --list-available-vms
The following VMs are available for generation-2:
1)      Sun JDK 1.4.2.16 [sun-jdk-1.4]
*)      Sun JDK 1.5.0.13 [sun-jdk-1.5]
3)      Sun JDK 1.6.0.03 [sun-jdk-1.6]

#> java-config --jdk-home
/opt/sun-jdk-1.5.0.13

#> java-config --jre-home
/opt/sun-jdk-1.5.0.13

i've tried to set up the following path:
/opt/sun-jdk-1.5.0.13/bin/
/opt/sun-jdk-1.5.0.13/
/usr/lib/javatoolkit/bin/
/usr/bin/
/usr/bin/java
/usr/bin/javac

and other mysterious path related to java.

please, someone could help me to find/set a correct path to the java environment?

Mobidyc

In my system, under Tools->Options->Java the "Sun Microsystems Inc" entry reads "/opt/sun-jdk-1.5.0.13/jre".

i already try that, of course, but it does'nt work anymore ;(

Sorry, I'm empty! Here is the reported config on my system, just to compare:
Code:
$ java-config --list-available-vms

$ java-config --jdk-home
/opt/sun-jdk-1.5.0.13
$ java-config --jre-home
/opt/sun-jdk-1.5.0.13

I think the problem is missing 'java' USE flag.
I'm currently solving problem with exporting to XHTML and missing settings of jre is that problem (as I googled).

I'm currently recompiling OO with java USE flag. I'll write if I'm correct.

Yes, I see now :-). But I'm getting new error that the directory i selected does not contain a Java runtime environment. I didn't have it before.

But I've found new way to go.

Try this .. https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-569457.html
emerge libX11 without xcb USE flag (you can have it set mainly for compiz).

Works for me! Lol :-).
