Hi,

This works in Red Hat but not in Gentoo. I can get a picture but no sound. I went in to the ALSA mixer and upped everything that appeared relevant, but still don't hear anything. The modules loaded are:

Code:

root@eclipse micah # lsmod
Module                  Size  Used by    Not tainted
tuner                  10912   1  (autoclean)
tvaudio                14300   0  (autoclean) (unused)
msp3400                18252   1  (autoclean)
bttv                   79648   0
videodev                6528   3  [bttv]
i2c-algo-bit            8360   1  [bttv]
i2c-core               16168   0  [tuner tvaudio msp3400 bttv i2c-algo-bit]
snd-pcm-oss            40068   0  (autoclean)
snd-mixer-oss          13880   0  (autoclean) [snd-pcm-oss]
[...]

Under Red Hat, the modules appear similar:

Code:

Module                  Size  Used by    Not tainted
tuner                  12384   1 (autoclean)
tvaudio                15580   0 (autoclean) (unused)
msp3400                19916   1 (autoclean)
bttv                   81856   0
videodev                8288   3 [bttv]
i2c-algo-bit            8776   1 [bttv]
i2c-core               19108   0 [tuner tvaudio msp3400 bttv i2c-algo-bit]
emu10k1                68360   0 (autoclean)
ac97_codec             14536   0 (autoclean) [emu10k1]
sound                  73492   0 (autoclean) [emu10k1]
soundcore               6468   7 (autoclean) [bttv emu10k1 sound]
[...]

except for the normal OSS stuff instead of ALSA. Other than this, sound works fine in Gentoo. Just can't hear it on TV!!!

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks!

You do have the card plugged into the sound card through mini right?

I'm sure you did this, but hook your TV card with a MINI cable up to your sound card "INPUT" port.

If you have done this check your audio settings....

I use a program called aumix for my audio settings.

Yes, like I said, sound works OK in Red Hat. There is a small cable on the outside of the case connecting the WinTV to the sound card (SB Live).

Emerging aumix now...
