|
|
I'm currently using wmmemload,wmcpuload and wmnetload. Is there one dockable app that will cover these and more? ie. date and time Something with some color would be nice as well. If it helps I'm using Fluxbox as a wm.
Also is there any advantage to using a universal client for icq,irc and aim?(everybuddy) If there is a better choice than everybuddy please let me know. TIA |

Many like gkrellm. emerge -s gkrellm reports 22 packages. Not sure if they are all related to the base or not. _________________ Quis separabit? Quo animo? |

ksim, it's in kde3.1 but also avail. seperately (Fluxbox supposedly supports kde dock apps) |

as i find gkrellm is much better than ksim I use the following command to make my gkrellm dockable:
Code: | ksystraycmd gkrellm2 |
nevertheless there is one problem: when hiding/unhiding it with the dock-icon it's always placed at position 0,0 [/quote] |

I find the following doc apps useful in Fluxbox:
wmbattery (I'm a laptop user)
wmsysmon -- memory, swap, i/o, interrupts
wminet -- processes, users, ftp, http, smtp connects (if you're serving)
wmbiff -- mail monitor (up to 5 boxes, mail/maildir/pop/imap/etc.)
wmCalClock -- configurable, including colours etc.
wmitime -- alternative clock with @internet time (Swatch) and date
KDE dockable apps seem to work ok, e.g. kmix, kscd, kluje (livejournal)
I have both Fluxbox and KDE loaded; I use Fluxbox pretty much all of the time though and I have all the keyboard shortcuts set up just so.
Would be good if someone could produce .ebuild for the 'remember' patch for Fluxbox |

Sorry for bringing up an old thread but I think this is a neat dockapp.

I was looking for the exact same thing and I found it with allin1 (that is a link to the bugzilla that has an ebuild for it. I find it works great and like it alot.
One dock app that I think would be good would be a spellchecker.

you beat me to it! I made that ebuild and was going to post the link I'm glad somebody else is already using it.
i also use wmmon (just like xload, but in the dock), wmtop (top 3 processes by cpu usage), wmfire (cpu utilization as a neat fire), wmnet (net traffic), wmMoonClock (moon phase, rise&set times), wmSun (sunrise&set times)
on my ibook I use wmwave to show wireless signal strength and wmbatppc for battery display.
I also couldn't live without lavaps, which isn't a dock app but is a cool-looking and quite informative tool at the same time.
with all those running, there is some redundant info, but it's all displayed in different ways. believe me, I can tell at a glance what my system is doing. _________________ http://www.desertsol.com/~kevin/ppc |

i'm using:
wmcpuload
wmmemmon
wmnet - neat
wmweather+ - note the plus. it's better than the original because it does forecasts and radar maps.
wmclockmon
WMxmms - the WM is capitalized. this is different than the wmxmms. i like it better because it scrolls the song title. |

I know alot of people like wmweather, but I find it way too cluttered. I prefer temperature.app and I even wrote an ebuild for it :
filename = Temperature.app-1.4.ebuild
Code: |

S=${WORKDIR}/${P}
DESCRIPTION="Dockable applette for WindowMaker that shows temperature."

DEPEND="virtual/x11
dev-lang/perl"
SLOT="0"

KEYWORDS="x86"
src_compile() {
emake CFLAGS="$CFLAGS" || die
}
src_install() {
make \
DESTDIR=${D} \
prefix=${D}/usr \
mandir=${D}/usr/share/man \
infodir=${D}/usr/share/info \
install || die
}
