OK, so.. I can boot any bootable cd-rom from my computer, including:
Windows Vista AIO (all versions working and used one as my old OS)
Gentoo2007 amd64 (Current OS)
Knoppix (all current versions)
BSD (tested for school)

But I cant boot from a Windows XP disk!
I have five WinXP disks total. Three installation CD's (student x86 and retail x86 and x86_64,) a burned slipstream x86_64, and also a downloaded and slightly less legit stripped x86 version. None will boot properly from my computer.

So my question is:
How can I get GRUB to boot from a CD-ROM, specifically a WinXP CD-ROM? Just knowing how to boot from the CD-ROM in general would be better to know, however.

I have tried THIS METHOD, but to no avail.

Here are my specs:
LG USB2 16x DVDRW that is /dev/dvdrw
Some unknown (computer white) 32xCDRW that is /dev/cdrom
Both of these boot all of the aforementioned CD's (except WinXP)

Gigibyte GA-965GM-S2 motherboard (which coincidentally also won't boot from any device on Adaptec 29160, so I must use grub for that as well.)
Intel Core2Duo E6600 w/ 4GB DDR2 and nVidia 9750GT
2x WD Raptors (Gentoo2007 amd64 - Software Raid and LVM2, similar to this.)
Adaptec 29160 w/ 18GB 10000rpm Seagate Cheetah SCSI-U160 that is /dev/sda1 (Windows XP - for dual boot and VM)

I need to have some Windows installation laying around, and would prefer it in this fashion of both dual boot and VM, and figured that XP-32 would be the best supported, most stable, and lightest weight to run in a VM, as well as running in a dual boot environment. The seperate U160 SCSI controller should also show some considerable performance advantage while running in the VM as well.
Then I also have to get past some other Problems intstalling VMWare Workstation 6.0.2 on Gentoo amd64

On a Dell D820 laptop I did the Fast Method from here and it worked great:
