Hey does anyone know of a program that can (in realtime) change the tempo and/or pitch of a song? I use scizzor, but it's only available in BMP which is obsolete and replaced by Audacious.

Audacity has the capability, but it's not realtime. I use scizzor all the time, but when ever I revdep-rebuild I get error messages saying BMP is not a package anymore. So I'm just wondering whether there is another program (or plug-in) that is available. Thanks.

For all program with jack support, you can do that with JACK (qjackctl for GUI), jack-rack, and LADSPA plugins:

Quote:

* media-plugins/tap-plugins <= contains pitch shifter
Homepage: http://tap-plugins.sourceforge.net
Description: TAP LADSPA plugins package. Contains DeEsser, Dynamics, Equalizer, Reverb, Stereo Echo, Tremolo

* media-plugins/caps-plugins
Homepage: http://quitte.de/dsp/caps.html
Description: The CAPS Audio Plugin Suite - LADSPA plugin suite which includes DSP units emulating instrument amplifiers, stomp-box classics, versatile 'virtual analogue' oscillators, fractal oscillation, reverb, equalization and others

* media-plugins/mcp-plugins
Homepage: http://users.skynet.be/solaris/linuxaudio/
Description: MCP ladspa plugins package. Includes moogvcf, phaser & chorus

* media-plugins/swh-plugins <= contains pitch scaler, rate shifter
Homepage: http://plugin.org.uk/ladspa-swh/docs/ladspa-swh.html
Description: Large collection of LADSPA audio plugins/effects

Audacious has jack support, but you would need to compile audacious-plugins with jack use flag though.

On the other hand, audacious supports LADSPA plugins natively, so you can just compile the plugins and have fun experimenting with them.
