i was wondering if there is a way to throttle my general tx on one of my network interfaces and more specifically the tx originating from scp transfers.

i have given a few close friends user accounts so as to use my box as an internet fileserver, but i would like very much to be able to control the maximum outgoing bandwidth allocated to this purpose.

where do i begin?

This can be done using tc.
