Hi,

I have a Logitech MouseMan Corless Optical that worked fine until now! I didn't anything that special - the mouse is physically and technically ok and I have it configured like that:

Code:
 Identifier "Mouse1"
Driver "mouse"
Option "Protocol" "IMPS/2"
Option "Device" "dev/usbmouse"
Option "Buttons" "6"
Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5"

Last thing I did, was trying to emerge -U world. But that didn't go well, because I could not get past the failing php update :( Another thing is: My evolution seems broke. Trying to start it, it states that it could not acces the configuration database... Maybe someone has simular probs after trying emerge -U world or has some advice anyway?

I'm getting really annoid lately, because first my graphics card suffered the heat-death (ok, that could have happend under Windows as well), then I tryed to update as I told you and econf kept saying I had the wrong version of sablotron which I hadn't, third that thing with evolution not even thinking of starting up and now my mouse!!!
Ok, it's nice to have a reliable, stable and optimised system and being able to control it. But I'm really tired of all those waste of time for configuring (and maintaining) it... grrrr!!!

So, well I'm angry right now... that does not mean I hate Linux or even Gentoo. No, in fact I love it... But, damn it, sometimes it's giving you a hard time loving it!

Thanks for any suggestions in advance! And don't mind my bad english (see my location ;))!

Have a nice day,
tragor

just a small thing

try instead of "dev/usbmouse" try "/dev/usbmouse"

I have no idea if it'll work but hey it's worth a shot

Sorry about that typo: I have indeed "/dev/usbmouse" in my config. Sorry, but I had to type it by hand, cause cut & paste is difficult without a functioning mouse :(

I should add: I see the cursor, it is stuck at the centre of the screen. I can use the mouse with my keyboard. "lsmod" gives me:
Code:
