HI,
after login to gnome desktop, whatever menu I select I got same of Kind of errors, such as:

Error reading file 'file:///usr/share/applications/gnome-appearance-properties.desktop': Unsupported operation (Menu System-->Preference-->Apperance)
Error reading file 'file:///usr/share/gdm/applications/gdmsetup.desktop': Unsupported operation ((Menu Applications-->Internet-->Mozilla)

etc...

Can you help?

emerge alacarte (if not already installed)
right-click start menu button and edit the offending menu items (properties of each menu item) or just run alacarte as a user from terminal:

Mozilla:
command /usr/bin/firefox %U

Appearance:
command gnome-appearance-properties %F

ASSUMPTION !!
Nautilus installed!

try to re-merge gnome-menus see if that fixes it.
