can't get bootsplash to work in 2.6.23-r1

Everything was peachy up to 2.6.22. Now that I upgraded to 2.6.23-r1 my bootsplash doesn't work anymore. Has something changed in that regard between 2.6.22 and .23?

I'm using radeonfb and it is working because I can see Tux when the kernel first loads. It's just that the bootsplash isn't working.

I already have all the options mentioned in the post compiled into my kernel and they worked fine with 2.6.22. Any other ideas?
