Input Lag caused by holding down button

Hi,

I play this game where shift is used very often, and it is held down for sometimes long periods of time. When I hold down shift for around 20-30 seconds I suddenly get massive input lag from keyboard events. This also happens outside of the game, and I can reproduce it easily. The problem fixes itself as soon as I restart X, and if the problem has started already, it does not affect any of the virtual consoles.

I am using a G15 Logitech keyboard with kbd driver. I am also using the proprietary fglrx radeon drivers, running linux kernel version 2.6.22-r9 and running xorg-x11 7.2.
