Ati and console resolution

Hi,

I know that this topic has been around for quite a long time but I thought that maybe things have changed after the new ati-drivers/kernels/whatever came out. So my question is: is it still impossible to get nicer console resolution while using fglrx at the same time? I am really annoyed by having a 17" screen and having fonts of size of apples.
