1. I have no thing with p_p_man personally, I like him and his posts I just think writing your name at the bottom of your posts is a stupid action. p_p_man is not stupid, just writing your name in your posts is.
2. There are other things I find stupid, writing over 3/4 of the page like / /k does. Am I going to get banned for that as well?
3. I find it amazing that no mod/admin has spoken up about this. It is quite obviously an abuse of power by someone who just wanted to see me banned.
4. If stupid is a banned words are we allowed to use such words as silly and useless?
5. Are the admins going to go through the thousands of posts that say much worse things and ban all of them?
6. I have a way to block p_p_man's sig from the bottom of his posts so I will never have to say anything more to him about the subject

This is abuse of power at it's very worst on these forums.

what do you expect, it was sunday, and it hasn't even been 24h yet.

...and to top it off, you've been idling in #gentoo-forums, chatting with mark_alec... he said to wait for nixnut to wake up... how can you not say that we're not doing anything... you've been banned before, and should know the drill. be patient and calm down.

Should make you think about things, shouldn't it? I mean about having such a fan-club within the mods/admins just because you are you.
Even mods and admins _can_ get bored about the very same people doing the very same unwanted/silly/non-intelligent/questionable/offending/...(you name it) things again and again and again (and whine afterwards when this leads to consequences).

Depends on the context and probably - to some extend - (we're all biased, we're mortals) on who wrote it.
Sometimes it is simply better to _not_ post a comment and/or rephrase it before submitting it.

cokehabit wrote:

Please don't compare apples and oranges - you *do* know the rules very well, you just had been banned and only days later ...
It is one thing if someone _once_ uses questionable wording or others (like you) do it on a more regular basis.

Looking back through (your) post history it isn't. It is a hard decission, thats all. Learn from it!

It needn't make me think about it because it was blatantly wrong.

well in this context it was still wrong. If i said your reply was stupid is that a banning offense? No. It is the same thing.

Rubbish, that is complete crap, you CANNOT HAVE ONE RULE FOR ME AND ANOTHER FOR OTHERS.

No, it is a crap decision, not worthy of someone who is an admin. I expected better from a person in authority here.

we don't - but we do expect long time members to know and follow the rules. We cannot expect the same from new members though.
Most (old) users behave, (some) (new) users may need a little tap on their fingers once and some very few (old) users have a ban history...

since when is someone saying someone is acting stupidly a banning offense?

This is starting to get a little childish, it is hardly possible to agree with nixnut's decision so you are only defending his actions for the sake of not annoying him. If you stood by the rules you would see that no personal attack was made.

Maybe some people here should have the guts to stand up for what is right instead of not wanting to get on the wrong side of others

So you do have different rules then?

This is absurd. If this is the new way of moderating the forums then it is pathetic.

Wasn't there a rule that the third ban is a perma-ban?

If this is true you benefitted from 'special rules' when your third ban was not a perma-ban. You did not make a fuss about that, do you?

Soon after being 'unbanned' you started your crusade against poly-p-man signing his post. After some days of filling the forum with your rants, you did a questionable post.

And now you are really surprised that you got banned again? AND you are playing the hurt innocence?
You know that you have to be carefull after unban - but no, you had to go your merry cokehabit way. You got your special treatment (3rd ban not perma) and now you are complaining? Isn't that... hypocritical?

1) such topics abt "ppl signing their posts with their name" is old on OTW
2) what did cokehabit do that explicitly broke the rules>

--EDIT--
https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-445906-postdays-0-postorder-asc-start-0.html
orignally created in March 2006

poly_poly-man joined on: 6 Dec 2006

ie the issues of signed sig is older then poly-poly thus how can it be personal

https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-625253-highlight-signature.html
others are annoyed and made something specific to filter poly-poly annoying sig-habbits
