my usb gravis gamepad was working fine before i installed gnome2. i'm thinking it has something to do with user permissions because the joystick is still detected by programs IF i su to root. user accounts don't detect crap.
keep in mind, everything worked fine before -- haven't recompiled the kernel or added any other devices.
any ideas here? _________________ [resident anime junkie] -- not just a linux freak. |

eh, sorry 'bout that.
anyways, i got the problem solved (still don't know why it f'ed up all of a sudden.)
I think it had something to do with the devfs -- how it automatically creates the nodes and symbolic links in /dev and /dev/input. anyways, i just unplugged the offending device (my joystick) then manually created the node and symlink myself. work like a charm.
i never touched it, though. somehow it, the system reset or changed something. blah, whatever! _________________ [resident anime junkie] -- not just a linux freak. |
