|
|
I've taken one half of the original mirror out of the array and added a new blank drive to make a new array which Gentoo is quite happy with. Now with this other half of the original mirror, I am trying to mount this as a separate IDE drive, but Gentoo keeps saying that the drive does not exist although it is present in dmesg as /dev/hda.
Any clues or am I right to be concerned? |

I'm not sure but i think its "type-related", (FD Raid linux autodetect) so it cannot be mounted automatically, did you try to mount it manual with "mount -t [fstype] /dev/hda /mnt/pathtomount " ?
Edit: Did you also start mdadm? In that case, what says "cat /proc/mdstat" ? Is that drive listed as a part of an mirror array? |

Apologies for the delay, but yes, I tried to mount it as /dev/hda /mnt/pathtomount. Have been told that I will have to create a new mirror, remove one half of it and then, add the drive with the information to the mirror in order to get the data off. Seems very long winded! |
