Work are purchasing an iTouch for me to look into wireless environments. Is it possible to connect it to my Gentoo box to load music etc on to it. What programs should I be looking at. I thought I was able to connect to itunes through RhythymBox is that correct.

I dont think there is Linux support for either the iPod Touch or iPhone yet. I did read however that wine now supports iTunes 7.3 (not later) so you may want to try to see if that works.

it is, in fact, quite possible at the moment to connect to your ipod touch. According to http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=381860]this forum post, it should be nothing more then jailbreaking, install ssh, and enter the database with the newest (svn) version of gtkpod.

I'm going to try it right now in fact with my shiny new itouch

Speaking of an Ipod Itouch, does anyone know any good sites/info on how to get gtkpod, or amarok to work with it. The Itouch has 1.1.4 jailbroken software on it, and can be sshfs into.

Thanks.

If you only run gentoo and are considering a iPod touch beware that you Can not create an account with apple from the iPod. Thus it can not have applications added from apples store. Even if you jail break the device and say you want the credit card terminal app you can not purchace it. (As far as I. An tell)
