|

Hi,
I've bought a Fujitsu-Siemens Esprimo Mobinel U9200 Notebook some three weeks ago. I've installed Gento on it and it works just fine. The only problem (besides software modem which I don't really use) I have is the built-in USB hardware control. Notebook has built in card reader (which works fine) and also bluetooth interface and camera. While both of the devices work without problem I have no control wheather devices appear connected or disconnected on startup, and the only way to activate/deactivate is by using Fn+some function key combination after which device connects to the system, is detected and available for use. The activation on startup seems to be somehow random - after power-off it usually starts disconnected, after reboot connected.
And so is my question - is there any known way to control such a case? Where should I look? Or maybe I'm just stuck with what I have (which is only a bit of inconvenience, but would be nice to somehow overcome)?
Thanx in advance,
m. |

This sounds like a bug in the BIOS. If the problem occurs in Windows too, it's possible the manufacturer has released a BIOS update to fix it. Also, it's unlikely but there may be some kind of option in the BIOS to set the start-up state.
I doubt there would be an easy software fix for it otherwise, since it's hard to get documentation on how things like that work. |

Ok. I found when the bluettoth/camera start connected - it's when I reboot/power-up notebook with power adapter. When it's powering up on battery both devices start disconected - I think it's quite reasonable, nevertheless I would like to have some level of software control over it (not only using keyboard combination).
As to BIOS options - there are only options to disable camera/bluetooth. And when I know exactly when the specific state is set I understand the lack of other options. I would just like to have a control (to create a software switcher for KDE for example) over my hardware. Unfortunatelly as this is not the only thing I have no control of (the other is for example screen backlight) I think I'll have to live with what I have (and it really is a very nice little notebook ).
